Look at that speech and understand why he became famous.

1) He was the leader of the American civil rights movement. a very high profile job.

2) King became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (for his work as a peacemaker, promoting nonviolence and equal treatment for different races). Makes famous people even more famous.

3) And he got murdered April 4, 1968 Made him sadly immortal.

but really, he just stood up for black rights. There were many others but the media just focused on him more and he became famouse
