Long as I remember,.. . The rain's been comin down
Clouds of mystery pourin. . . Confusion on the ground
Good men throught the a-ges. . . . Tryin to find the sun

And I wonder. . Still I wonder. . .Who'll Stop the Rain ?

I thought maybe folks would appreciate a break from the battle. . .. . . and actually like to think about a Solution to it all !!

So. . . Will you help 'stop the rain' ?

Sure....I'll try but I'll do it this....though Asia!!

This problem is insoluble
The answers seem impossible
The logic ceases to exist
Emotion is the beat we miss

I stand on a world
Where dreams, realities, existence are the same
We take from the mother's skin
But the world is not to blame

Who tells the wind which way to blow?
I wonder who will stop the rain
The rocks that hold the secrets, they don't know
So who can stop the rain?
We've lost the path for all we know
Now tell me when will it start again?
And as the old man lifts his hands
Please can you stop the rain?

Stars fall far away
Like they never did before
A new moon shining
Like it never will again

Desert white cloud
Spirits they sing
Rain falls from the big sky
Onto broken wing

There is no sense in turning back
To wash the debris from the track
World without fears without rhyme
We fought for peace within our time

Here's a slightly more updated song, from 1988 (Patti Smith), the "Queen of Punk Rock":

People Have the Power

I was dreaming in my dreaming
of an aspect bright and fair
and my sleeping it was broken
but my dream it lingered near
in the form of shining valleys
where the pure air recognized
and my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
that the people / have the power
to redeem / the work of fools
upon the meek / the graces shower
it's decreed / the people rule

The people have the power
The people have the power
The people have the power
The people have the power

Vengeful aspects became suspect
and bending low as if to hear
and the armies ceased advancing
because the people had their ear
and the shepherds and the soldiers
lay beneath the stars
exchanging visions
and laying arms
to waste / in the dust
in the form of / shining valleys
where the pure air / recognized
and my senses / newly opened
I awakened / to the cry

Refrain

Where there were deserts
I saw fountains
like cream the waters rise
and we strolled there together
with none to laugh or criticize
and the leopard
and the lamb
lay together truly bound
I was hoping in my hoping
to recall what I had found
I was dreaming in my dreaming
god knows / a purer view
as I surrender to my sleeping
I commit my dream to you

Refrain

The power to dream / to rule
to wrestle the world from fools
it's decreed the people rule
it's decreed the people rule
LISTEN
I believe everything we dream
can come to pass through our union
we can turn the world around
we can turn the earth's revolution
we have the power
People have the power ...

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain...Telling me just what a fool I've been...

I finally had all I could last night and unplugged. Being available to answer questions and open minded enough to respond respectfully is what I thought this was all about. Its not just the Trolls, they are easy enough to spot, its the members that have level 3 and above statues that gets me. If your going to ask a question in a far leaning figurative contexts you should expect crazy answers. Reporting abuse when you were phishing for it is dishonest. This is happening on both sides.

Earnest,

Look at my questions, and look at the low turnout of responses. Now look at any of the emotion-laced questions posted by either of the two ideologies. A behavior that is reinforced, tends to re-occur more often. I ask factual questions and ask for an objective exchange of ideas, and tend to get a few amens, but that's it. And it's not what I want. I already know how I feel, but I enjoy being COUNTERED (with something other than an insult.)

Maybe, I need to start with a little ditty in my questions.

I agree with the first poster...But it is hard with all the outright stupid questions...I have been guilty of it on occasion...you know Hilary and Bigfoot and her Flying Monkeys, but I do it just to be funny and thinking that someone might smile...but some of these questions, i.e. Impeach Bush or 9/11 was an inside job are getting old...I wish we could have some good political debate, but with all the children or crazy people, it may be hard...I mean I will listen to everything anyone has to say as long as they back it up with facts...just my $.02...

Sure, the answer is simple. If we as a community just stop giving traction to those who incite hatred it will stop. There will always be people who either through frustration, misunderstanding, or pure enjoyment will spread their vile rhetoric. However, if no one allows themselves to baited into responding negatively those types will wander away when unable to achieve their desired effects. It is really a simple as remembering and abiding by the Golden Rule. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you". Smiles are contagious and the world would be a much happier place if everyone could understand this simple fact.

Excellent!! I would love to see the hatred stop. There are many intelligent people who post here, but then there are also those who base their answers solely and entirely on opinion, and when opinion clouds rational thinking, hatred seeps in.

I would hope that most everyone would at least try to base their answer(s) on at least some facts, not opinion alone. If this could be done, then I believe the hatred would not stop, but it would at least subside somewhat.

I don't know.....I've always said if you don't have something good or constructive to say, just don't say anything at all....

I try by giving balanced answers - except for my weak moments when a troll begs for it. What can I say, I'm human!

I'm a middle of the road person, with some passionate views on a couple of issues, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt, and add some valid, responsible points at times.

I think that Y!A needs to add two more sub-headings for conservative & liberal. The extremists can each go into their corners (or the others') and sling it out there.

Amen to Steve C.'s post.
I seriously considered dropping YA altogether last night, but I have decided to stop taking the baited questions instead.
I know that some of what I know and share helps the Questioners, so I am going to practice "Mindful Answering".
Way to be a Peace Maker, Earnest!
Good luck.

The prevailing attitude around here seems to be: give it another day.... Why? because:

The sun'll come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow, Tomorrow,
I love ya Tomorrow
You're always a day away

You know what's wrong with that song?...tomorrow never comes. It's always today.

And the lesson is? Make do with what you've got! (Y!A is what it is).
