I am a college freshman and would be interested in either officiating middle school, high school, or summer league games.

Usually officials are regulated by the state in which you would like to officiate. The state high school organization should be able to tell you how to become an official. There are local chapters that officials belong as members to have games assigned to them in their area after passing the test. These chapters sometimes have classes or clinics you can attend that would prepare you for the test. Contact a local high school athletic director and he/she may be able to put you in contact with the correct person. Good luck.

You have to start small. Middle school, city leagues, CYO etc. Probably have to take a test showing you know the rules and the game. Check with those organizations Develop an incredibly thick skin and for kicks get coke bottle glasses.
