im my english essay we are doing it on blood brothers and i am suck on the 7th part -
Explain how mrs Johnstone is used to explore and/or represent the social and historical issues of the time.

I dont know what it means by social and historical issues?

Well, you know what these words mean, right?

Social issues -- things having to do with groups of people, and what groups they're in (including things like race and class); historical issues -- issues having to do with the past and things that happened in the past that are effecting the times, or issues going on at that time.

(I don't know the book, so I can't be more specific.)f

Although we are each individuals, still, we're effected by sociological and historical factors.

You're being asked to explain how the author uses that character to bring out this stuff, and, presumably, comment on them.

People in the future looking back at our times would say that social issues included AIDS, same sex marriages and abortion and historical issues would include terror and the war in Iraq.
