I don't know whether it is relief or regret. This is the man who left me for another woman that he is still seeing. We sat down and ironed out the child custody arrangements with the help of a mediator and when we wrapped it up, he cried, hard funeral crying. Hev any of you guys done this?

Been there...done that.

For me it was two things:

Relief from the anxiety of going through the process. You simply don't know what the outcome is going to be - depends on the lawyers, judge and most of all, the sanity of the parents involved.

Second, the realization of failure. To me, losing my marriage (even though it wasn't for infidelity) was a failure - a big one. I failed my ex, my kids, and my integrity.

My guess could....be......both. Regret that he's actually having to go through all of this because he's with another woman and maybe didn't realize how stressful and emotional it would be. Relief maybe that it's over (the stressful part) kind of thing. It's hard to say since we don't know what type of person he is or the marriage you all had. You'll be alright either way and eventually so will he.

It means he is sensitive and cares. Do you think that men can't be emotional?

What does it mean for you to ask this question?

guilt over your child's new separated life to come. seems he needed a good cry. sometimes, it helps release frustration, guilt, sadness, etc. in this case...it seems so. realization is overwhelming sometimes.

He probably cried because he no longer has control over you and your emotions and he now realizes that he destroyed his family and it's too late.
