My old high school team needs a summer coach for a summer league. But I would be coaching girls only two years younger than me. Is this a problem? Also whats the best way to come up with plays, strategies, etc? I could use some of their plays from the season, but I'd really like to help them improve. How do I help them get better?

Here are some web sites that I check regularly for coaching information and ideas. www.coachesclipboard.net, www.fivestarhoops.com (formerly www.bballhighway.com). Sign up in yahoo for the basketball coaches message board. Lots of good coaches and free advice there.

About your age, you need to show lots of confidence and a certain amount of relational detachment. You would have to show that you are the coach first and friend second. If you have a heart for coaching, the profession needs you. Keep seeking all the experience you can. Best wishes.

practicing fundamentals is the best way to get better. The team that is fundamentally sound will usually win. You can run all the plays you want, but if you can't dribble pass or shoot, then your going to loose.
