What book is this from?

I am a huge fan of Jude Deveraux books. I remember reading I book by her, but I can't remember what the name is. I remember she went to this mansion to stay with this family, and they had a dangerous dog. They had to keep locked up in the basement when she (Darci I guess her name was) was in the house. Then, she kept seeing this girl playing on a swing outside her window. Eventually she found herself near a pond, and the girl she saw tryed to drown her. But she was pulled from the pond by an older brother. I think the dog ended up being controlled by the girl. Cause the girl was really a ghost. I thought just maybe the dog could be devlin from the trilogy of Forever Always. But I have checked. Some please help me?
