I think that pansexual is being attracted to the person and not caring what sex they are. If I'm right in my thinking (and please correct me if I'm not) what's the difference between pansexual - and bisexual?

Pansexuality is a sexual/affectional orientation characterized by a potential aesthetic attraction, romantic love and/or sexual desire for anybody, including people who do not fit into the gender binary of male/female, implied by bisexual attraction. Pansexuality is sometimes described as the capacity to love a person romantically irrespective of gender. Some people who are pansexual may also assert that gender and sex are meaningless to them.

The way I've always defined pansexuality is a possible attraction to everyone. It's not so much not caring what sex they are, because pansexuals can certainly have preferences and enjoy different people. Versus bisexuality, it just includes more people, and I think that's how the term came about- because there are bisexuals (who love men and women) and people who liked transsexuals wanted to know where they stood- hence the term pansexual came about.

That's how I use it- bisexuals like men and women, whereas pansexuals like them and other people, too, like transgender and transsexual people.

Hope that helps.

Pansexuality (sometimes referred to as Omnisexuality) is a sexual orientation, distinct from bisexuality and characterized by a potential aesthetic attraction, romantic love and/or sexual desire for anybody, including those people who do not fit into the gender binary of male/female implied by bisexual attraction. It is sometimes described as the capacity to love a person romantically, irrespective of gender. Some pansexuals also claim that gender and sex are meaningless to them.

wow! I can honestly say I have never heard of a pansexual, but maybe I am just not up with the times. They really sound just about the same, I don't see the difference.

Pan sexual includes people who do not fit into the binary definition of male/female implied by bisexual. Such people may include pre-op transsexuals or the hermaphroditic. Some people include transsexuals, refusing to acknowledge that the surgery actually resulted in a woman since they can't reproduce.

pansexual can include all sorts of sexual outlets, and isn't necessarily limited to sex with other persons. It may include sex with multiple partners at the same time. Basically, it is an openness to sex in whatever form it may take.

The dictionary definition is below.

pan·sex·u·al /pænˈsɛkʃuəl/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[pan-sek-shoo-uhl] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective 1. Psychiatry. pertaining to the theory that all human behavior is based on sexuality.
2. expressing or involving sexuality in many different forms or with a variety of sexual outlets.

Pansexual is a misnomber.
Literally it would mean the person wouldn't care what gender, age, religion, cultural background or even SPECIES their sexual partners are.

Yes, I said it.....SPECIES! To be truly pansexual means you're open to ALL Sexual experiences. That's just a bit too far for me, personally.

I'm bisexual.
I have had sexual experiences and attractions to members of both genders...but ONLY of my own species. Thanks
