Yes, many establishments have strict policies about bringing food from other restaurants. They see it as an insult that you would go to their competitor and eat the food right in front of them!

I think you are more likely to have a problem if you do this in a local restaurant or pizza place where the owner also works and will see what you're doing. Especially they won't like it if you bring in your own soda, since they charge a dollar or more for something that might cost them 5 cents.

I don't think McDonald's or Burger King would care, because they are run by lowly paid workers who aren't personally affected by this. I think if you were barely making minimum wage, you wouldn't be too concerned with stopping people from bringing in outside food so your rich employer can make even more money.

I guess it depends on how you handle it when first approached. If management politely requests you put the food away and you refuse and get rude, then I can see them asking you to leave. Though my suggestion is to call the restaurant ahead of time and ask their policy so you don't have to run into this situation. Some restaurants don't have children's menus, so they probably won't mind if you bring in a Happy Meal if your child has to be with you. But if you're just talking fast food, why not eat outside?

I never have. As a child, I used to always want my fries from McDonalds and my burger from Burger King, so we bought the fries and went to burger king to eat.

One would think it's certainly a possibility though I have done exactly that ... and not been thrown out. I have done so in order to please the palates of multiple family members when an assortment of fast fooderies are side by side. It's up to the management but most would rather keep you as a customer and will let it slide.

If you didn't order anything from there, they would definitely throw you out (why wouldn't they?) I think they would frown on you bringing something from another restaurant in any case.

restaurant's like that, reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Which means yes, they can if they want to.

Well I think they do have the right to unless you have purchased something from their restuarant. For example, I wanted something from BK but my kids and husband wanted something from Mickey D's, so I got something from BK and took it to Mickey D's to eat with them there. But why would you purchase something from one fast food to eat in another anyways?

Some places do. It's kinda dumb, but it's happened to me. It is basically at the restaurant's discretion.
