Besides his teeth coming in decayed or rotted. He could develop food allergies, he could become overweight, and difficult to feed good food to. She needs to feed him healthy things if she's going to give him "regular" foods. Fruits, veggies, lots of milk or fruit juice. I'm mom to 3.

ALOT. The poor baby's stomach isn't developed enough to be processing these kinds of foods. It probably has gas and stomachaches. You shouldn't even start a baby on dairy until closer to a year!
A baby only needs breastmilk until 6 months or so. Once solids are started, they should be nutritous! I'm guessing that the baby won't grow up liking healthy foods, but instead will see soda and snacks as a normal part of their diet instead of a treat. Also, they aren't geting the good healthy vitamins from things like fruits and vegetables.

At 4 months, a baby pretty much gets all his nutritional needs from formula. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends introducing new foods (usually starting with rice cereal, gradually adding fruits, and so forth very gradually) anywhere from 4-6 months, but the baby is still getting most of the nutritional needs met through formula. The foods your describing are way beyond what a child's digestive system can handle, and can also place the child at risk for choking and serious food allergies. Does her pediatrician know she's doing this? Deliberately placing a child at risk like this can be considered medical neglect. She should be reported.

My middle son never ever ate baby food. He ate table food. BUt only only wholesome healthy food and certainly not junk. It is ok is a baby is ready for table food , some are ready early. My third child likes table food at 5 months but still swears by her puree. Obesity is an epidemic and feeding children things that aren't proper nutritoinaly is placing them at such risk for obesity very soon in their lives.
Best wishes and good for you to try to suggest better nutrition.

I'm sure there are lots of bad things that could happen, but at the very least he will probably develop bad eating habits for the future. I don't think babies that young even really care what they eat as far as taste goes, so your sister-in-law is probably feeding him those things for her entertainment, not for his nutritional needs. (And I'm sure the caffeine and sugar in the Pepsi can't be good for his sleeping habits.)

Serious obesity issues. My mom had a friend that did that to her kid... and now she's 5 and weighs as much as my 14 year old sister. It's really sad. And now when her mom tries to put her on a diet, she cries and cries until her mom gives in. It's sad really.

My sister in law started her kids on baby cereal mixed with fruit and vegetables at 4 months, which in my opinion is two early, if he isn't getting enough to he, then she should mix a little rice cereal into his bottle. My question is why is she doing this?

nothing other than a developed digestive system. I'd strongly suggest that you don't tell your family what they can and cannot feed their kids, it's kinda rude. Even though we all know that children aren't supposed to be fed solids until 6 months old, but if the baby can eat it and keep it down and is healthy, why not feed them the food?
