It depends on the wax, the oilier it is, the worse the oil stain and if it is red... I typically either use ice to solidify it and pick it off or wash it cold wash and cold rinse.

You can remove the wax with paper towels and an iron - fold several paper towels over the wax and hold the hot iron just over the towels. Don't let the iron get hotter than the sweater can handle or touch the paper towels for very long at a time. Eventually the wax will all get sucked into the paper towels.
Unfortunately, if the candle was colored the dye may stain the sweater even after the wax is removed.
Good luck

You can take it out easily as long as the sweater isn't wool or silk. Wool and silk need to go to the dry cleaner for that because they're more delicate and can shrink or warp without warning if you're doing a home remedy.

The boiling water's a good idea, only you might lose dye in your sweater from that and be left with a blotch. So the alternative is to put 5 layers of paper towel inside the sweater and 5 layers over top then use a warm iron to melt the wax and get it soaked up into the layers of paper towel. After that the wax residue will be so weak that it will wash away normally in the wash.

enable the wax to harden - you are able to speed this up via putting the article into the refrigerator or freezer. maximum folk of the wax must be undemanding to break off. to eliminate any last wax, positioned the affected portion of the textile between 2 sheets of brown paper or products of unpolluted absorbent textile. employing a heat (no longer warm) iron gently circulate over textile, changing paper or textile whilst mandatory, continuing the approach till wax is bumped off. multiple the stain would stay, this is taken care of with a dry cleansing solvent. Then provide the article the popular wash the textile will take.
