How soon after childbirth can you begin your kegel's? I delivered 3 weeks ago and had an episiotomy but it wasn't a bad one. I called my OB's office but her assistant just told me not to do anything till my 6 week check up. I thought i'd read in a book somewhere that they should or could be started earlier. Does anyone know?

as soon as it's not painful anymore down there. the sooner you do your kegels, the faster you heal.

i have 3 kids and do my kegels daily. it really works wonders when you have natural birth. it has also helped with me and my husband... ya know! anyway, it feels great so i say do them whenever you feel ok and not in pain anymore!

congrats!!

I wouldn't worry about doing them at all. I had a BAD episiotomy and I never did kegels and you would never be able to tell that anything happened "down there".

every body is different, if you feel like you can start doing them a little earlier without pain, go ahead! Every one heals differently.

You can do it as soon as you feel up to it. My doctor said to start as soon as I felt I could, but not to overdo it.

I would just try them and if it hurts then wait if not it shouldn't hurt you doing them early
