I'm looking for a breakfast place in San Diego, anything non touristy. Nothing at a hotel. Got any good breakfast places?

Hash House in Hillcrest has to by far be the best breakfest in San Diego and it's been chosen #1 breakfeast place in SD several times by the Union Tribune and has recieved many other awards. Check out their website: http://www.hashhouseagogo.com/

Kono's in Pacific Beach is also good for an inexpensive breakfeast.

Daddio's in PB is also pretty good and on Sundays it's all you can drink mimosa's before 1pm

Broken Yolk has to be the most overrated breakfeast place in SD; the food quality is on par with Denny's. The only reason people like it is b/c it's popular and it's where all the hungover chicken heads go to get drunk again off Mimosa's and talk about how drunk and stupid they got the night before. I cannot stand that place anymore; the food sucks It's like a crappy bar or nightclub that people go to b/c it's the "cool" place to go b/c there's a crowd. I've lived in PB for six years and used to go to "Bro Yo" before I realized how overrated it was.

I would agree with aztrain 2.. THE BROKEN YOLK...You will very much like it..Not Fancy, just plain old Cafe with good food and good prices..You wont find a bad item on the menu..I use to live in San Diego for many years and have been to many, but by far this is the best...Go there and see for yourself..then give us your answer after you have been....Looking forward to hear what you say...

2 places are fantastic ...

1) The Original Pancake House. They have a few locations, but the main one is in Kearney Mesa on Convoy Street. They are phenominal!!

2) The Big Kitchen. This is in South Park (near Downtown) on Grape Street. It is a big hangout for liberals (like hippies), and kind of dirty looking inside, but the breakfasts are renowned and awesome! Rachel Ray did a writeup on this place a couple of years ago. I go about once a month.

Concur,

Broken Yolk
(like the other fine folks said)

The Mission - kinda "artsy/granola" but really good
(on Mission Blvd. in Pacific Beach)

Gringos has a pretty sweet Sunday Brunch
(Corner of Garnet Blvd. & Mission Blvd. - Mexican theme of course!)

Konos - cheap, but good! on the boardwalk in North Pacific Beach (very near Gringos - just walk out to the boardwalk and go north)

Perrys - semi-famous truck stop - old school style
(Old Town - Pacific Highway at Rosecrans Blvd.)

Hotel Del Coronado - EXPENSIVE - $45 or so per head, but spectacular Sunday brunch.

(Coronado -Orange Ave. you can't miss it)

The Broken Yolk cafe in Pacific Beach, it's on Garnet.

Open from 6am-3pm, lots of menu options, slow paced, reasonably priced, tasty tasty food. If you go there, ask them about the dozen-egg omelet challenge.
