Maybe you have a kidney infection. I've never had beer make my back hurt and I've drank beer...ALOT of beer!

Hopefully, you are not an alcoholic--you don't indicate that. But beer can have an effect on the kidneys and, in turn, cause lower backache. Alcohol destroys the delicate balance of the ions and water in the body by altering the filtering ability of the kidneys. Although the exact mechanisms for how alcohol changes the kidney’s ability to function are not clearly known, the changes in ionic concentrations have been studied in humans and in animals for many years. Kidney complications are even greater if a person has also been diagnosed with liver damage due to alcohol consumption. But most likely your backache is due to back strain or something else.

I've never heard of any particular alcohol causing back pain. The pain could be muscular or kidneys, depending on the location...but again, I doubt it's beer induced...especially since you only had a "few sips". Copious amounts may leave you with a headache, and when you are hungover your whole body may feel flu-like and heavy, and bloating can occur from beer consumption, but I've never heard of backache.

Same thing happens to me if I drink 3 or more alcoholic beverages. My kidneys just cant handle it. I will have pain for 2-3 days and sometimes there will be blood in my urine the first day or two.

if it's down in the small of your back, it might be kidney trouble. it's not the beer that did it, but maybe the beer provoked the symptoms. don't let it go on too long. drink lots of water and see a doctor if it goes on for more than a day.

More than likely your back problems are indeed associated with the beer you drank. Not directly as a cause but it was probably what you were doing because you drank beer that is causing your back ache!

a few sips of beer will not hurt your back. if you drink hard liquer or beer constant. then you can get what they call degenative disc disorder which will really frig up your back. YOu probably just strained it or slept wrong.
