What kind of salesman? A car salesman, vacuum cleaner salesman? If you're asking about a salesman in a computer store, maybe because the salesman is available and the hope is that the salesman would assist the customer in getting to the right person to speak with.
Normally, people expect some level of service from a salesman after the sale has been made, even if it's just the salesman telling them who to call or speak with.

Need more info. Maybe the person doesn't know that a CompUSA person is available for free to talk to. Maybe they don't trust the CompUSA person. Maybe they are flirting with the salesman. Maybe they don't like CompUSA. Maybe they think the CompUSA person is too pushy or don't understand the language of computer speak from the CompUSA person.
Is this person not allowed to talk to the salesperson? Why not? Should the sales person have directed the questioner to CompUSA?
There are so many external factors to this question that apply. I , personally, only talk to the people who sold me my computers about computer problems because I feel that they are more familiar with my level of knowledge and expertise, my computer system and my general views of what I expect from the system.
If this person hurt your feelings by not talking to you, maybe you should just take a deep breath and get over it...you'll save yourself a lot of heart ache and stress and be happier for it.
