You know two things:
the 2 numbers are consecutive, so larger(y) - smaller(x) = 1
and x + 4y = 39.

Lets solve for y first: y - x = 1, so y = 1 + x

now change the equation to read: x + 4(1+x) = 39 then solve for x
x + 4 + 4x = 39
5x = 35
x = 7, y = 8
