If they have bred you would see eggs or fry in the tank. Know if they are about to is another story entirely. Here's a page with some good info about breeding and raising Oscars.

Hope that helps.

With cichlids, which oscars are, their behavior is typically the first clue that they're up to something like breeding. If you see your pair, especially the female, defending, as in doesn't want to leave a certain part of the tank, keeps other fish away.. that's usually a sign they've laid eggs. The obvious clue is seeing the eggs which they like to lay on flat rocks.
Look for the behavior, then look for the eggs... If you wait long enough (days) you may just see the swarm of fry...

You can tell by their behavior that they're breeding, and by their eggs if they've bred. How big are your Oscars right now? How do you know they are male and female?

See any eggs? That would be a clue.
