it looks like he had been troubled for a while. i heard he ran out of antidepressants...paxil, i think. unfortunately, it's usually the people who generate the least amount of attention for their depression that actually go through with a suicide. also, he was a vegan for 30+ years and did not drink or do drugs; stop defaming the man. rip

Maybe he couldn't hit the high notes anymore. Such a waste.

I'd bet all the usual stuff: depression, drug addiction, etc.

It would be hard to be on the verge of launching a reunion tour when you realized that what you've been doing for the last 30 years (!) is nothing more creative than singing cover songs for a Beatles tribute band. Imagine that - going from superstardom to complete flame-out in a year and then never being recognized for your talent or creativity again. And when you are, all the Machine wants you to do is rehash stuff you were famous for 30 years ago.

It sucks though - he left a fiancee, two kids and a hopeful band looking forward to making huge money on a reunion tour in the lurch.

My guess is substance abuse, either alcohol or illegal drugs. Him and Richard Jeni in the same week. Both had lives many would kill for. Shame, a damn shame.
