At age 16, as a waitress / cook behind a lunch counter at McCrory's 5 and 10 cent store -- and minimum wage waaayyy back then was $1.60 an hour. With that small paycheck and tips, I still managed to save enough $$$ to buy my first car two years later.

The first time I was "paid" was helping my childhood neighbor deliver papers. First job was as a Security Guard. Next was courier, warehouse clerk, regional buyer, then Nuclear Operator, Systems and Commissioning Engineer, now Consultant.

i worked on an 88 acre walnut orchard for 8 years. I've done everything there is possible for that job and i do miss the tranquility.
