both if your feet sweat excessively they will smell irrespective of shoe. This can also lead to athletes foot. But wearing shoes that are all man made material (pleather) will also contribute to the problem. Many podiatrist now offer treatments that reduce the number of sweat gland in your feet if in fact you have that problem. Wearing all cotton socks also helps. Basically try to stay away from synthetic materials and wash regularly. If the problem persist you should then see a doctor..

Bit of both. Once smelly tootsies have been in shoes then the bacteria are transferred to the shoe and are re-activated every time they are worn again due the heat and moisture of the foot. To break the cycle you need to clean the insides of your shoe with an anti-bacterial cleaner or disinfectant, and wash yer feet of course.

100% leather shoes leave yr feet to breath. Any other material will make your feet smell even if u do not have any odour problem.

â¥it kinda depends on the shoe it self... you could also count on the fact of how long you wear the shoes during the day. Leather is a good source for smelly doggs. I guess the older the shoes are and the more you wear them would be your answer.â£

Mainly the feet. All the rubbing makes many skin flakes rub off. Eventually put a lot together and it is like a rotting flesh thing, just not really.

it depends.....if you don't wash your feet..then maybe they make your shoes stink. But if you have on watertight shoes.....they will make your feet stink. A lot of times my dress shoes and dress socks make my feet sweaty because they are completely sealing off the air...whereas tennis shoes have the little holes

it is the bacteria on your feet that causes the smell. leather shoes have a smell of their own but I don't think that is what you meant.
