the normal practise in my home (i live alone) is to wash under hot water then thoroughly rinse of the remaining detergent bubbles and then place in the draining rack to drip dry. after half an hour or so the dishes etc are dry and can be put away.
rinsing under cold water doubles the drying time in my experience.

drip dry is more hygenic then drying with a cloth.
and as one guy said it is important to clean the kitchen properly every day.
rinse and drain are part of the same cycle. i think the questioner meant to ask do you hand dry or drip dry dishes and cutlery.

My wife did in 1940..after rinsing under the tap she put the dishes on the draining board to let them dry. But nowadays she puts them in the state of the art dish washer.

I always rinse because I hate soap residue...doesn't taste so good. Then I hang my pans back up to dry on their rack and put the cutlery on a dry towel for an hour.

I heard that there are carcinogenic chemicals in washing up liquid, so always rinse before draining or drying up.
Better still, use a dishwasher.

don't leave the dish's in the drainer. that's just trashy
put away the dishes and silverware and then thoroughly clean and dry the drainer.thats a pure sign of laziness. plus youinvite folks to grab a plate and help themselves anytime.
the only thing worst is when folks throw a plate in the sink and pour water on it and leave it there. like their is a person there to clean it up after them.dont get me started.

I always rinse in hot water. It helps to prevent streaking if you aren't going to dry them straight away. They are always so lovely and sparkling out of a dish-washer because they are well rinsed and then blow dried with warm air.

One reason I don't accept food or drink from certain people is cause I know they don't rinse their washing up. I don't want to eat from anything that has a taste of leftover soap!!!
