green colored passion fruit?

My friend has a viney plant that had green fruit on it. When you opened one up, it was full of seeds (i think they were white) covered in gooey stuff. She always told me it was a passion fruit, but i've never heard of green passion fruit. Is this what it is?

I think that it is either passion fruit or a fig, even though figs are red it could've been a unripe one

Regular passionfruit (the ones with purple skin) are green when they are unripe, but there are also varieties that have other colored skins when they are ripe (see link).
