you dont "reprogram" memory you change the settings for it in the bios. but yes you generally can slow memory down if you want. but not always the timings and the CAS latencty.

Yes and no, it is backward compatible. You can stick it in motherboard that only accepts PC2700 and the pc3200 should work. But some motherboards are very picky about the memory. It won't hurt anything to try. Download Memtest 86+ boot from it and let it run overnight after putting the memory in the board. If it doesn't show any errors you are good to go.

You do not need to "reprogram" it. In fact you can't "program" memory at all.

Though, PC3200 will generally downclock to PC2700 speeds with no problems.

actually, it seems odd to me that you would want to reprogram the memory stick...there are 2 answers to your question:

yes: if and only if you have a factory that makes memory sticks, bec there's no way you could DIY.

no: if you don't have a factory, say Corsair or Kingston.

the bright side is you may stick to your PC3200 RAM and make sure that any RAM upgrades will match your memory's existing frequency or clock rate.

If you put PC3200 RAM in a slower machine or along side slower RAM then it will adopt the slower speed, normally without problems. It would not allow dual channelling your RAM if that's what your thinking. To do that you need 2 identical DIMMs

NO not without getting a new motherboard and prosier.you can try to over clock your prosier which isn't good for your system it will give short life..the 3200 runs too fast it will never read it...were you try in to upgrade your memory your stuck with the 2700 which is what i have but what was the purpose for which you are tryn to upgrade your memory?

a pc 3200 and a pc 2700 should work just the same.....they make a stick that is pc 3200/2700 compatible
so yes i would believe they will be the same....if they are not...u will not be able to tell the very small difference
worst case scenerio...u install new ram...pc does not start..u will recieve a beeping noise coming from inside pc...then u know ram is not the same and will not work
make sure u turn off pc...unplug power from pc to wall

If you are asking if 3200 will work in a 2700 pc, probably yes. Just pop it in and see if it works. Usually it will automatically clock down and run fine.
