Its one of our human faults. I think people laugh at others misfortune because it makes them feel better about themselves and their own problems. In times like this people are just mean. And the pack thing is true to. For fear of sticking out of the crowd, everyone does the popular thing but the popular thing sucks and everyone is a follower anymore. There really aren't any leaders anymore. Cause most people are scared wusses.

I don't laugh at other's misfortune. If the person was or is a real sh*t then I get this self-righteous feeling of ha they got what they deserved but I don't really laugh.
P.S. your avatar looks like it was taken from "The Ring" really creepy. (just an observation)

Maybe it's just relief that it isn't us on the receiving end. Or it makes us feel that there are more stupid and gullible people in the world than we are. Hey - let's all laugh because we would never let that happen to us1

We laugh at others' misfortunes in celbration it's not happening to us. It's not so much that we revel in another's misery, but merely relieved... for now.

I suppose it makes sense.
But I think we laugh at others because we're insecure with ourselves, so we do not want to be socially attached to that behaviour lest we be seen as lesser, and our insecurities justified.

You laugh at them because you are cruel and cold-hearted. People need to start being nicer to eachother.
