It seems as if recruiters are more interested in Business Intelligence and usurping each other than they are at recruiting interviewees here in Richmond and Glen Allen, Virginia...

They almost ALWAYS ask where you have interviewed and what companies you just left did...They are searching for new clients and seem to have no interest in getting people in front of companies at all.

Yes, it is legal for them to ask...it's also legal for you not to answer, and to redirect the conversation to "what opportunities do you have available that might be a fit with my qualifications."

Recruiting is all about G2 - they want to find out what opportunities are open (they they don't already know about) and what other recruiters you're working with (so they know whether to waste their time with you if you're already being presented by 5 other recruiters).

They are gauging your caliber and what they would have to offer you to get you to sign. Mention the cadillac companies for the best consideration.
