I don't know anything about these types of things - I want something Blackberry-like, but want to stick with Verizon. Are the Q and the Envy the only options? If so, which is better? All I really want are email capabilities and light internet usage.

that depends. if you mean ligt internet usage buy checking weather or sports scores ect. and want email then the envy is the best thing for you. its $20 for the email sync and $5 for the internet. if you are looking for more internet usage then the moto q is better for you. the internet and wireless sync are combined for unlimited usage for $59.99 ( also there is the samsung u740 which is like the envy, but the keyboard is not as easy to use as other phones.)
