he probably didn't. most r&b/rap artists don't write their own material.

He wrote that when he was in prison, I am not positive as to why, I tried to look it up, but I can imagine the reason is because he had a girlfriend who he really wanted to be with who really wanted to be with him, but while he was in prison, no one wanted them together. I was asking my boyfriend if he knew why he wrote this song the other night, and this is the only thing we could come up with.

Because he wanted to make a new song! And it was inspired by a friend of his.
