We were going to fit an electric shower until we found out that you need to run a separate 40 amp cable and you should really get a qualified electrician to fit it, so the cost could be high. We decided instead to fit a power shower as we always have hot water in the tank and we couldn't see the point of an electric shower heating up cold water when we already had hot water in the tank. The power shower is more expensive to buy but you can fit it yourself if necessary so overall the cost is comparable with an electric shower. Also, I think they have problems with the power of the water coming through - the more power you have, the less warm is the water. If you want a hot shower, the water doesn't come through with a lot of pressure as the shower heats the water as it comes through.

As a qualified electrician, I have fitted them for around £200. That includes all wiring and plumbing and a 9.5kw shower. All you have to do is jump in!.
There are some things that can push the cost up to £250 such as plumbing being old and electrics not up to date and not able to carry load capacity of shower without updating. I've not found one that couldn't be done.

Labour £200 or so

Plus unknowns, installing/upgrading bonding.

how do you heat your hot water now, have you got a combi boiler or a hot water tank,i'm askin because electric showers can be expencive to run,and if you have a combi boiler i would think about running a shower from the hot water suppy instead.
