The six major powers in the UN have agreed on the draft of new sanctions against Iran to get them to stop their nuclear program. Ahmadinejad has already scoffed at the draft calling it "a torn piece of paper." Is this more proof that the UN really doesn't matter?

Yes it is. And I'd like to point out that if more proof is demanded by the tinfoil hat crowd that conservatives were not behind the 9/11 plot, we would have made sure that at least one plane "accidentally" hit that box-o-commies.

Other than to express world opinion, the UN shouldn't have any power. How quickly do you think freedom would evaporate if there was a powerful world body that could force any country to bend to its will?

Over thirty times the uN has tried to take action against ISRAEL for murdering women and children, torture, and other war crimes. Every time it was the US that vetoed any action.
If the UN is impotent it is our fault

No. Consider what the world would be like without the UN. It does need reforms though.

Why are you suprised, it was the same with all the useless resolutions that they came up with against Iraq and Saddam!
