I'm planning to get married next summer, but the question raised for consideration is, How is it gonna work out? I guess if i dont take a chance i'll never find out. I've heard the phrase that, sometimes the biggest risk is to never take one !!

I'm truly in love with this guy, who is muslim, he tries to live up to the stereotypical muslim guy, but deep down inside he is the sweetest guy i know, extremely nice to me.....and we both know that we wanna spend the rest of our lives, and eternity together!!

What i wanna know is, if you are in an inter-religious marriage, muslim-christian preferably, how is it working out for you...

and please keep all your jokes that u have the intense desire to post to yourselves....serious answers please !!!! i'd really appreciate it

I hope you don't mind if I answer, even though I'm not in a inter-religious relationship. Apparently (according to what I've read), the biggest problems to arise in these situation is when you have children. It would be a good idea to determine now exactly how the children will be raised (and make it a binding commitment). Also, you should both be clear about whether either of you would convert, and under what circumstances that could/would happen. And whether you'll both be observant of your religious, or non-practicing. Get any dietary issues out of the way, too. If he doesn't eat pork and you love bacon, determine if it'll be a problem for you to have a BLT for dinner sometimes. In my experience, the more you get hammer out beforehand, the less problems that arise later. Don't forget finances, too. Do you tithe? Does he give to a mosque? How will this affect your money situation?

Good luck, dear.

I'm not in a Christian-Muslim interreligious marriage myself, but I am the product of one! My mom is Christian and my dad is Muslim, and their marriage has always worked out fine regarding the religion aspect. My parents decided before they were married how they wanted to raise their children, and my siblings and I were brought up with both aspects of the religions and were allowed to make our own decisions. The most problems in their marriage come from the cultural differences, not the specifically religious ones, so you might want to take that into consideration. I know interreligious marriages can work though, I've seen it and my parents are one of the happiest couples that I know. Good luck!

After having spent 2 1/2 years in a Muslim country and dating a couple of Muslim guys, and having many friends who married Muslims, I really advise against marrying him, especially if you're serious about your faith.

My friend Katrina wrote a book about her marriage to an Iranian, how she was convinced to do an Arabic-only Islamic ceremony and found out afterward that her name and religon had been changed in a ceremony she couldn't understand. The book, called "Married to Mohammed" gives further detail about Sharia law, Muslim marriage customs, etc... For example if you move as his wife to your husband's home country and that country is governed by Sharia law, you no longer have the right to function as an independant adult. Even in moderate countries like Morocco and Egypt, if a husband says his wife may not leave the country, she must provide proof that her husband has given permission. Also, in Islam the husband has custody rights to the children...and so on...

Just please try to be objective (I know it's hard when you're in love!) and do your homework...

Drop the religion both of you and enjoy each other and live a life with out problems.
Really can you think of anything more evil then the religions on earth at this time.
religion is the number one reason for wars, genocide, hate, murder, terror the list goes on and on.
I see more non religious people enjoying life then religious people.
There is no correct religion other then non religion.
Good luck

My boyfriend is Muslim and I'm Catholic. We are planning on getting married also. My bf is not a practicing muslim, he comes to church with me. However, we've faced huge obstacles with my family objecting. But it doesnt matter. If he really loves you and cares for you like mine does, the religious difference wont matter. Congratulations, btw.

It has its moments.
Like, every time she walks in the door and has her vest or over-sized coat on it makes me wonder if I'll get bombed BEFORE I get to the bar.
