We are fighting them over there, but we are also creating them. Of course, Al Queda wasn't in Iraq when Hussein was in power, they just messed around his Western border, irritating him for the most part. But of course they are there now after entry became easy during our occupation. It's common news that terrorists have increased in numbers and much of it is due to the United States presence in Iraq. I don't know how any reasonable person can deny our presence there causes more hatred towards us and has caused an upsurge in the number of terrorists flocking to Afghanistan in particular, as well as increased terror cells in Europe and Al Queda's presence in the Western Province of Iraq. I don't know if it would be any different had we not gone into Iraq and stayed centered on Afghanistan. Any action we take in the Middle East causes resentment among a great deal of the population there and resentment against the United States breeds terrorists. I just wish the Administration would stop trying to float the idea that we've got it covered fighting Al Queda in Iraq. They may think that comforts our population, but the truth is that many of us are very aware that terrorist camps are operating in other areas, and too successfully.

I think the root of the terrorist ideology in the Middle East is the Israeli/Palestinian conflict/territorial dispute/disaster. On the one hand, the Jews were expelled from the area by the Romans and suffered at the hands of many nations and ideologies, especially the genocide caused by the Nazis. On the other hand, Palestinians have lived in the area for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Since the end of the 19th century, many Jews began migrating to the area and purchasing land. Eventually much of this land would be claimed for the Jewish state of Israel. (How would any other nation react to migrants coming over, buying land, and then declaring their own state?) Zionists used terrorism to pressure the British out so they could create their own state. Now, decades later, we are still dealing with the inherent conflict between both groups. Unfortunately, the U.S. backs Israel unconditionally and arms them with some of the most advanced weapons on the planet so the surrounding countries and many Muslims throughout the world resent this U.S. policy. Given this background, any conflict throughout the Muslim world is easily expanded by U.S. policy toward Israel/Palestine.

The notion that "we are creating terrorists" is stupid.
Think about this for a nanosecond. This notion would mean that you have some workaday guy, going about his humble, daily life as a taxi driver or baker or candlestick maker, family of 3 and a dog and a cat, goes to PTA meetings, etc...., regular guy, never thought of doing harm to anyone, and then he sees something on CNN about Bush's foreign policy and ALL OF A SUDDEN he just DECIDES.... OUT OF THE BLUE.... to STRAP A BOMB TO HIMSELF AND WALK INTO A DAYCARE????!!!?!?!?!?
That makes NO FREAKING SENSE!
You can agree or disagree with what we do. Maybe it's right, maybe it's wrong, maybe some of it is right and some of it is wrong.
But the people blowing up buildings and cutting off people's heads are NOT doing it in REACTION to what we're doing. We're not the CAUSE and we're not the REASON.
How do I know this?
(1) Blowing yourself and others up is IRRATIONAL. It is NOT REASONABLE. That means by definition there is no "reason."
(2) Their source of information about us is their local IMAM. He does not broadcast CNN for them. He says the same things about us that Goebbels said about the Jews, and he says it 5 times a day to these people from the moment they're born. THAT'S why they hate us.
(3) If it's about Iraq, then how come the violence is every where around the world???? How many troops did BALI send to Iraq? NONE.
If the Muslims lived in Antarctica, they'd fire RPGs at the Penguins.

Frankly I do not believe that terrorists are created. I think in order to become a terrorist you must be predisposed to this type of behavior in general. Then what is required is someone who is willing to focus that predisposition and shape it into a destructive force which manifests itself in violence. What I believe is that we are bringing the terrorists out of the woodwork and causing them to expose themselves and their beliefs. My question has always been this. Would you rather take a stand against terrorism in the Middle East or Middle America? Either way you can bet we will have to fight them somewhere at some point in time.

Okay, so you live in the middle east, just walking on the street, and suddenly, coalition forces arrive to liberate you. You decide at that point to become a terrorist?
NO!!! You either already felt inclined that way, or you're grateful that an evil dictator is no longer terrorizing you. I know from first-hand experience (two tours in Iraq) that we are creating fans of the U.S. of A. This despite a constant cesspool of poor character coming from our rich and famous. many of them were led to believe that Hollywood is what we Americans are all like. So, in essence, Hollywood created more terrorists than our forces.
If your assumption were true, going away and leaving them alone would make them disappear, right? Look at our history books, their mentality was present way before GWB was ever born.

Fighting them over there like hell to keep them at bay from Bush while at the same time... create new ones that are extremely frustrated that their little babies are killed just for being Muslim. Iraq is officially a military state with over 30,000 innocent women and children killed to protect Bush and his enormous mistakes.

Either way, the terrorists are over there. Better to remove them over there then pieces of them over here.

The U.S. isn't creating terrorists - it's just pissing them off.
I think they're /trying/ to fight the "terrorists," but really they're just getting in the way of a centuries-old conflict they really had no business to interfere in.

Less Americans have died in 4 years of war over there than on 911 so it seems to me that there were more than enough terrorists before we went into Iraq.

We saw a few hornets crawling into a hole so we stuck a stick in it and stirred. Little did we know it led to a big ol holler'd out rootball and had tens of thousands of hornets in it with eggs hatching every second.
We are definitely fighting them, but they were already there.
