had DirecTV installed at my house. I need to put the wiring underground. Any idea how deep it should be in the ground? I just want to prevent any damage done to the wires when the grass is cut. THanks.

Ya you don't want to go to deep as when you realize Sat TV charges for everything like a bank you'll want to easily pull it up...

If you just trench out 6-8 inches of dirt. so that the cable is securely in the ground. Watch out for the phone line as it is only about 12 inches in.

This type of wire us if the low voltage classification. Unlike electric power wiring which must be two feet deep by the NEC code, there is no specific depth required by law. If your only concern is lawn mowing, just a few inches will suffice, but you may also consider other possible damages to your wire such as driving in spikes for pitching a tent or playing lawn games such as croquet, etc. Use a direct burial type of cable of RG-6 grade or better and a ground block also.

I ran my Direct TV line thru some PVC pipes and buried in the ground, This keep my digging them up and tree roots from damaging the lines. Seal both ends of the line with some expanding foam to keep water from getting into and damaging the line over time.
