I bought my female and male molly on Monday. Today, she gave birth to 5 babies. She is definatly thinner than she was, but I'm not sure if I should take her out just yet. Its been 3 hours since I awoke to the five babies in the breeder tank. How soon should I move the female back to the home tank and how soon should I feed the babies? And what should I feed them. I've heard powdered flake food works well.

Its been three days and Momma hasn't had any more babies. I've heard they have way more than five, but that's all she's had. Any advice on what to do? I'm about to move the five fry over to a seperate 10g for them to grow in.

Powdered flake food works just fine for baby mollies. As they get larger just leave the peices a bit larger.

Give her a few more hours yet. Sometimes it can take them more than a day to deliver all of the babies.

I haven't had an aquarium very long, so I don't know about putting mom back into the home tank, but we fed our babies fry food (liquid) from the store every few hours for the first two weeks. Then we began alternating the fry food with powdered flakes (crush it as small as you can.) We haven't put them into the adult tank yet. They are about five weeks old and mostly we just feed them the crushed flakes now. Seems to work just fine.
