When I try to give him formula he just throws the bottle away. But He will drink milk, and I bought a vitamin supplement with Vitamin A, B1,B2, B3, C,and D. He eats lots always has but is still only eating baby foods and yogurt (3.25 % that is sweetened only with a little fruite juice). But what about B6 and B12 and Vitamin K and everything else, I am really worried. My family doctor is old fashioned and a little mean so I am afraid to tell him. Please I need some good advice. I make sure he gets fruit rice cereal meat and veggies everyday. He will eat mum mum crackers as well. I am just worried about his nutrion. He has about 3 bottles a day sometimes 4 but always 3 meals with snacks. He is 10 kg (22lbs) He also will drink fruit juice but I know it's not as important. Thanks for your help!

my daughter went off formula at about that age too, (8 months) my doctor said not to worry, it's normal, as long as she's getting a well-rounded diet, and baby foods cover that easily. Apparently most babies go off formula between 8 and 12 months. Good luck!

ps - don't mind those who say not to give him milk yet, it really is fine, make sure it's whole milk though!

It sounds like you are doing a great job, and worrying too much about your baby not taking formula. You are giving him a vitamin supplement, and a well-rounded diet, and his weight sounds good. Formula is not the best-tasting thing in the world. You might try him on a step-up formula for older babies, or cutting it half and half with milk. I wouldn't give him more than 4-6 ounces of juice a day because of the sugar content. If your doctor is old-fashioned, he would probably tell you the same thing. I would advise you to look for another doctor you are more comfortable with; you need someone you can be open with your child's health questions. You might also talk to the health department nurse for your county; they will check his iron levels and talk to you about good nutrition. Good luck!

My son is having the same problem, but he is only 6 1/2 months old. I talked with his pediatrician at his 6 month check up and she told me to try using a half packet of Carnation instant breakfast, like the vanilla, and mixing that in there. That way he will still be getting his formula, plus added nutrients from the carnation and it gives it a little sweeter taste so he will drink it better. Since we have started doing this, my son has been drinking his formula so much better! Good Luck

You are doing fine the baby shouldnt be drinking milk this early but ow well you cant force him to drink formula if you really want him to have some of the nutrition that his bottle can give him try sneeking in a scoop full of formula with his milk but no more because he will taste it and not want that maybe not even want milk. since he is drinking like a big boy if he hasnt started already try sippy cups if he has you are the luckiest mom EVER. my son will be one wednesday and he has to have organic milk with one scoop of formula and he isnt real friendly with the sippy cup. Your son is eating healthy you are doing a great job he is normal and making life easier on you by doing these things so dont worry and good luck.

You SHOULD NOT give him cow's milk yet. It could make him sick, and formula's are specially fortified with all the things that babies need. Try a Second Stage Toddler Formula. They are made by all the brands that make formulas. They taste a little different. You could try putting Strawberry, Vanilla, or Chocolate Syrup or flavored powder into his formula to change the taste. He may like it much better. Try Ovaltine in it. It makes it taste much better. That may solve your problem. Good luck but please do not give him milk yet. His little body is not ready.

He shouldn't be having milk because of its lack of nutrition and also because of his young digestive system. First, make all his cereal with formula so he is at least getting some. Next, get him back on the formula. Stop the juice, it is all sugar and has no nutritional value for him. Make sure you are giving a formula bottle before solids as the solids will fill him up and he wont want the formula. Good Luck and hang in there.

Some people stop feeding their babies milks (formula or breast) at 6 months. Is he eating solids? If so talk to your doctor, he may be fine to stop.
