With additions like Shannon Stewart, Embree, and Piazza, the A's will be BETTER than they were last year. Swisher and Bradley will be better than last year. Chavez and Crosby are not going to be hurt like they were last year. Harden will win the Cy Young this year. Haren, Blanton, and Loaiza are definitely settled into their spots in the rotation. Piazza won't be doing anything but hitting so yes, he'll definitely do a lot better than all of his previous years in my opinion. Shannon Stewart has a career batting average of .299! .299! WOW! Enough said? The A's are definitely in a better position than they were last year and I'm so excited to see how far they'll go this year. The Mariners and Rangers didn't do much this offseason so look for the same outcome to happen. The Angels did get a tad bit better in the offseason but I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned about. With all the additions made on the A's and all the nonaddtions made everywhere else in the AL West, the A's should run away with the division championship. It sucks to see Ron Washington go, but hey, I'm sure Eric Chavez and Mark Ellis have learned all they can from such a great man.

The AL west is open. Angels have to be the favorites but even the M's or Rangers could turn it around an contend this year too. I don't think it's a clear cut run away for any team.

I don't know if they're a lock, but they have a better than average chance. The Angels are overrated, and the Rangers and Mariners suck. The A's got rid of Zito finally, so now they can have some consistency in their pitching staff. And if we can get Ellis, Crosby and Kotsay to stay healthy, and if Swisher keeps hitting homers, they can take the AL West with ease.

The Angles' are the lock. Gary Matthews isn't effecting there performance. The A's won't do much. Bobby Crosby can't do anything since his ROY. And Zito is gone. What's left? The Angles' is the answer expect a great season from them. Winning that league will be like taking candy from a baby.

I think the Rangers improved but not enough to contend.I picked the A's to win the AL West and the World Series(and no I'm not an A's fan I just think their the best team).I think the Angles are the only ones who could steal it from them but I don't see it happening.

The A's my second favorite team, what a joy it was when I got to see them play the Pirates a few years back if it happens in the world series though I will be torn. The A's are almost always a team in flux, they are either sky high or real low with what seems to be no in between. I dont know about pitching since they lost their ace to the team across the bay, but I still think they are going to be able to win the west.

No, I dont think they will. The loss of Barry Zito is going to hurt, they still have some talent, but I think the Rangers might actually win that division this year.

They have the Pitching.. but if i had to put money on it, i would bet on the Angels... they are battled tested and they trimmed alot of unwanted fat in the Off season, plus, Oakland needs Rich Harden to Stand up and Be Healthy, and when has he ever done that.
