I'm going to go out on a limb and not give you details about it. I challenge you to do the research, then answer this question and let me know what you think.

For those of you who love to think that those in positions of power really care about our rights, I'll even suggest that you do your research on our favorite website www.whitehouse.gov

...So, you guys are totally in favor of scrapping the Constitution as long as "the gov't deems necessary in a state of emergency"?...wow...

Okay, so lets get really current. You've heard of the "patriot act" but have you actually looked into it? I am amazed at how many Americans are willing to surrender their civil rights because somebody with a badge "deems it necessary." Failure to protect our Constitutional rights is no better than actively destroying them.

The cynics just refuse to accept the facts. What more evidence do you need. You love to throw out the really cute "tin foil hat" joke, but why can't you accept it when you can go to the government's own websites to verify what's really going on?
As far as these executive orders being implemented, you can actually watch video of the homeowners in New Orleans being handcuffed and having their weapons confiscated- their weapons being the only thing to protect themselves and their homes from looters.

So you guys go ahead and enjoy the bliss of ignorance. When there's nothing left of our Constitution rights, come see me and maybe I'll lend you some tinfoil.

The Constitution has been trampled on for two centuries. I am not a constitutional scholar, but I can't seem to find executive orders anywhere in article two. Maybe it's hidden in there somewhere. Judges and lawyers are always finding hidden gems in there. The phrase "with the advice and consent of the Senate" appears in there quite a bit. I get the feeling that this was intended to make sure the executive branch did not act unilaterally on matters that would have far-reaching effects. Seems to me that executive orders are in violation of that basic premise.

Now, an order saying something like: "...we would like to acknowledge the accomplishments of scout troop 7261 from Muncie, Indiana..." would be ok with me.

These laws passed without representation come awfully close to dictatorship. If people were to read the Declaration of Independence and the laundry list of reasons we were separating ourselves from the King, they would find many parallels with our own federal government.

I am afraid that there are too many ignorant and apathetic people in this country to swing the pendulum back to the other side. If this is true, we have surrendered to tyranny.

Its 45 years old and has never been implemented. Think historical context. It was a result of the growing nuclear war threat, which has diminished some. This EO was a favorite among the conspiracy crowd during the Clinton era. Of course, he was supposed to implement this order during Y2K, and turn American into a police state. I wonder why it never materialized.

Unfortunately, Alex Jones and his kool-aide drinkers are still spinning yarns.
