I would say it's probably a lack of haemaglobin rather than an increase in white cells? Extra iron is usually recommended during pregnancy because the baby is like a parasite taking all the nutrients and the mother is getting deficient in some.

A high white count can indicate a sign of infection. Could be anywhere in the body. They probably want to re-check the count to see if it's rising. That couls mean her body is fighting an infection. On the flip side if the white count has gone down or not changed, it could mean her body has managed the problem on its own. They're probably being cautious so they don't end up prescribing something unless it's necessary.

Usually, a high white blood cell count indicates some type of an infection or virus in the mother or the baby. Hope this helps.

anemia is really common while pregnant, they will take another blood sample to investigate and most likely they will ask her to take iron pills to lvel the white cells to the red cells.
She simply needs to ask questions to her doctor, he can't keep anything from her. It's better to be safe than sorry.

probly an infection . bladder or kidney is very common in preg women . they may be checking for preclampsia which is a more serious condition you may want to wait untill the test results are in they may be saying they dont want to tell her it may be the later and dont want her to worry for no reason. but my advice wait for the test, it is important to know if you have preeclampsia because it could be fatal if left untreated. hope its just a bladder infection. which are 100X more likely
