I can only tell you I wouldn't live in either of those places. Go NORTH, go EAST for better living conditions.

Known to be areas of either high crime and or prostitution. Any and all motels in this area are seedy and poorly kept. Avoid like the plague! You can probably get a more reasonable priced Motel in Tempe along Apache Blvd.. A friend of mine stayed at the Tempe S. Priest Drive Motel 6 in early January. He thought it was OK for about $50/night if you want just real basic sleeping accommodations and it's only 3 miles to the Airport plus right on the bus line!

Both locations are bad news. Go East..Far less Crime.

If you like crack, whores and crack whores this area is perfect for you. Just be sure that you speak spanish very well.
