Please answer seriously...not just "get the hell out of there"....HOW, and WHY, and even consider the "what if's". For example, let's say we do pull out of Iraq and the Persian Gulf and they manage another 9/11. Then what? I don't have any answers, I'm just curious about yours.

The first thing I would do, if I was President, is to recognize that the "war on terror" began on U.S. soil and by sending our troops to Iraq, we have allowed the war to go on unabated on U.S. soil. Granted, we are not seeing the violence and the bloodshed that is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we are witnessing the financial and economic takeover of the USA by foreign corporations and foreign governments who openly attack Americans on our soil without so much as a slap on the wrist by our government. So, I would begin by securing our borders here in the USA, bringing back and guarding all our trade secrets, and requiring that only U.S. Citizens work in our sensitive areas, on our bases, in our power plants, etc.

Then I would do a complete audit of the US Companies who have a financial interest in Iraq, Afghanistan and who are receiving U.S. funds. I would ensure that they are abiding by US law and that their loyalties are first to the USA and then to their profits. Otherwise, they would lose all contracts and funding from the USA.

I would gather intelligence in the field in Iraq and Afghanistan and I would ensure that we are not doing further harm to the country -- theirs or ours. I would ensure that they learn to use their own resources to protect themselves and that they are trained to do so. I would let the Iraqi Citizens know that they are responsible for what happens to them and that they cannot expect the USA to remain in Iraq or Afghanistan indefinitely. Therefore, I would have them develop their own plan for US withdrawal and their own milestone markers and contribute comments, criticisms and suggestions that would enable them to meet those markers. I would recognize that the Iraqis have a different lifestyle than the West (us) and I would not try to make their country over in our image. Just as the US has cities and counties and our ethnic areas, the Iraqis have tribes and areas they consider their ethnic areas. We should not be pitting their tribes against each other any more than we should be pitting Our citizens against each other. I would make a date for withdrawal of our troops and report the progress toward that withdrawal. I would let everyone know, including US Citizens, that we reserve the right to change that date if the circumstances change. We do not cut and run, but we will begin a gradual withdrawal of our troops and will work on those milestones.

If we secure our borders and get control of our illegal immigrant population and if our citizens become involved in due diligence, it will be much more difficult for another 9/11/01 to happen. We citizens need to take advantage of the second amendment and get training in firearms and self protection. Our schools should be working at showing our citizens how to protect themselves, how to report suspicious activities, the actual meanings of the laws and how the laws actually affect their everyday life, the Constitution and its meaning and every American Citizen should be a member of the well-regulated militia that is simply citizens doing their civic duty to protect our country from terrorists and criminals.

These are somewhat general statements, but that's what I would do if I was President of the USA. Also, I wouldn't be accepting campaign contributions and I wouldn't be beholding to the corporations. I would be beholding to the Citizens of the USA who put me in office. I would ensure that our laws are strictly enforced and prove to the world that we are truly a Nation of Laws and that our generousity is not to be toyed with or manipulated. I would ensure that our charity begins at home and I'd let Felipe Calderon know that his illegal immigrants are pushing much of the drug trade in the USA so we'd stop that PDQ.

If our citizens really wanted to solve our problems, they'd vote for someone like me because I wouldn't be for sale to the highest bidder and I would take care of the USA first. Remember what they tell you to do when the oxygen masks fall down on the airplane? They tell you to put your own mask on first and then help others! You're no good to the others if you're dead or unconscious!

First let me say 2 things:
1 I hate WAR
2 You cannot fight A HOLY WAR with a gun or any weapon
only by laying down your life and not like a suicide bomber that's nuts.
But if I was going to fight a war I'd WIN IT!
Like world war II turn the factories into the arsenal of democracy
victory gardens gas rationing air raid drills and take over the country for a couple of years for real and help the people get their lives in order have a STRONG Threatening presence in the region that would allow the neighboring nations to have a feeling of security so that they would not have an attraction to violent extremists.
Like world war II

Irregardless of whether I agree about going in or not, I would have to look at where things are NOW. And, I think that pulling the troops out immediately would be the worst thing that could be done. We saw what happened when we left the job undone in the first Gulf War. The job needs to finished - I'd get the weary soldiers out of there, send in fresh plus extra troops for a grand finale - make a grand statement to wrap it up. But, I would make sure it was over for sure before pulling out of there. Its not time for the US to leave yet, by any means.

Your question seems to presuppose that it was necessary to declare that war in the first place. I would, despite your request that we not consider it an option, withdraw the troops ASAP. You'll presumably respond "What if Iraq becomes an unstable place prone to ethnic killings and civil war". To which I'd respond that that's already the case, and our staying indefinitely won't change that. By the way, who's this mysterious "They" you refer to? ("...and they manage another 9/11") The Iraqi people? Feel free to provide a credible link between Iraq and 9/11, since your president couldn't be bothered to do so.

His plan is simple, its whatever the oil companies tell the idiot. Once the permenet air base is finished, by Dickheads beloved haliburton,it will scale back. Those two crooks should then quit there jobs and go on a road trip to each and every soldiers home that was killed or wounded; and tell the widows, mothers, fathers, the truth, but neither one of them are capable. Neither one could look any widow, mother, father in the eye, much less themselves!!!!!!!!

Give Iraq a firm time table that they must manage their own affairs. (it will never happen). Begin a timely withdrawal of troops leaving enough there to assist in redevelopment of the country. We will not win the war. Iraq must engage in Civil War among themselves to determine the future of the country.

Any us of a it rather is wealthy in organic components and is gave the impression to be an ordinary objective -- possibly Venezuela (assuming that Bush might have already attacked Iran). And the Democrats will with out delay sign in to that conflict on a similar time as they posture as anti-conflict.

Redeploy 30% of the forces to Afghan. Redeploy 30% to the outer regions of Iraq. Bring the rest home for well deserved R&R. The damage to military families is one of the many hidden casualties of Bush's poorly planned war.

Bomb the supply lines. The weapons are coming in from Syria and Iran.

Bomb the supply stores. Eradicate them. Without worrying that some "civilians" live in the building next door. Pulllease, it's like the phony civilians who live next door to Hamas headquarters - - - - we need to stop pretending that the ones who jump up and down in the streets going "death to America and Israel" and burning the flag every time a chopper goes down or a building is blown up are different from the ones who shot the chopper down or blew the building up.

So I guess my plan for the WAR would be to start fighting it like it was a WAR.

If i were prez, i would work to end ALL planetary hostilities and strive to put an end to the mindset that, if not eradiacted on a planetary scale, will suirely be the death of the human race.
There is no simple solution to this perplexing situation, and each citizen must contribute to the whole until it infects our entire race .
