Babies of African and Asian descent are usually born with brown eyes that stay brown. Caucasian babies are often born with steel gray or dark blue eyes; they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time they're 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes actually have more pigment than gray or blue eyes, even if they appear lighter in color.)

Hi there, eye colour is generally "set" around 4 months but usually starts to change much sooner than this, some weeks after birth. However some babies eyes are the born the colour they will stay and it is not uncommon to be born with brown eyes, despite what you might hear!!! Blue eyes can subtley change all throughout life but will never change to brown as this has a different genetic profile.

When babies are born their eyes are not fully developed and have not developed the amount of melanin (pigment) in their eyes. This causes their eyes to often be blue or green for the first few months. Usually by the time they are 6 months old their eyes will have developed and you will know what their eye color truely is. Having two eyes that are different colors can be caused by genetics or injury, and is farely uncommon.

Usually any time after 2-3 months old, but color change is possible at any time. My oldest daughter had very light blue eyes until a few months after she turned 4. Now she has bright green eyes. Also to correct something that ♥ Emma© ♥ said, it is possible for a person to be born with blue eyes to change to brown. My middle girl was born with blue eyes and around 4 months, they changed to a chocolate brown and are still that color.

I would say anytime, even though most doctors would disagree with me. My pediatrician told me that if they didnt change in the first 9 months they would be that color forever. My daughter's eyes were blue until she was about 20 months old. She woke up one morning and they were green! Not blue/green, but a really vibrant deep green (just like mine). I think that if your baby's eyes are going to be brown they will change soon, but if they are going to green or even hazel, it might take awhile for them to change.

Daughter no 1 born with navy blue eyes, changed at 6wks to light blue. Daughter no2 born with navy eyes, changed at 2mths to green and daughter no3 born with funny coloured eyes that changed every day till at 9mths old they stopped at a very light brown colour! So, baby's eyes settle to their tue colour at any time! Lol

my little boy was born with dark blue eyes - then around six weeks old his eyes changed to brown and have stayed that way - I think they all vary, but would say around six weeks you will notice a change if they're going to.
