you know how in a movie when someone does or says something stupid, the music and everything just suddenly stops? thats how it is when we go out together. hes kind of thuggish looking and tough and i like it! my god its sexy! and i'm kind of preppy and quiet and cute. (not fat as the stereotype goes) and i can't stand to date white guys. mostly white people are the most racist and gives the most stares.

A lot of times, you're going to get stared at just for the hell of it--it may not have anything to do with you being with a "thuggish" (whatever that means) black man--somebody may think they recognize you or may be admiring your clothes and it just happens to be a white person...don't come to so many narrow-minded conclusions. Sure, there are racists still alive, but I think you're a bit paranoid. You are very uncomfortable with dating a black man, and you EXPECT people to think negatively of it. You think it's "cute" and you're not impressing anybody. And the comment about white guys is so unnecessary. I will take a white man, black man, Chinese man--doesn't matter--any day.
It sounds like you're trying to convince yourself if this is the right thing to do. I suggest you stop playing games with yourself and grow up...

It's definitely not illegal to date an african american if you are white. But I kind of think you're being a bit racist yourself when you say you can't stand to date white guys. Not all white guys are the same. I'm Asian American and live in a small town where there are practically only caucasian men. I've never dated anyone but white guys and they've been good to me...

If interracial dating was illegal in the US, wouldn't you both be arrested by now? LOL There are some ignorant folks who can't stand to see interracial couples. That's a byproduct from when you date outside your race. It seems like you really like the person you are seeing, so concentrate on that and not all the other negative folks around you. When they stare, smile and wave, or better yet, plant a good one right on your boyfriend just to make their jaws drop more! This is not the era of Jim Crow, you are free to date whomever you want, so enjoy! :-)

I'm sorry, you're question made me laugh when I saw it.
No, dating is not illegal in the US. It doesn't matter what religion, or ethnicity, or any of that you are. IT shouldn't even matter what gender you are, but that is being fought over right now.
Though you're right, I have seen more white racists than I have racists of any other type. I think white people, more than other peoples, are taught racism subtly through their families, which is harder to resist and ignore.
