It used to be the left ear. I'm talking 25 year ago. It, by tradition, was from the earrings that pirates wore
Now it doesn't mean anything regarding sexuality. It was to do with being a top or bottom about five years ago; I believe left is a top, right is a bottom. That could be different now though, it may not mean anything anymore.
