Yes, there are ways to replace the screen lamp. You have to get the instructions from the manufacturer's website. It also depends on the type of laptop, so I can't really say what type of bulb it is without knowing what type of laptop you have. And the bulbs tend to be somewhat expensive, it just depednds on where you get it from (manufacturer is probably more expensive then buying one off of Ebay). Good luck!

Hi there, there isn't really an option to replace the screen lamp on a laptop without the manufacturers help. Is your computer under waranty? If it is just contact the Manufacturer and ask them to fix it. If it isn't in warranty contact the Manufacturer and get them to repair it (for a fee) The part itself is fairly inexpensive but the labor costs is what would cost the most. Unless you've had experience in Laptop repair I wouldn't recommend opening the laptop up. It can void the warranty and be very confusing inside (it's not like a desktop).

"Bulbs" vary. Short lifetime. Usually Replaceable... usually cheap
It is easy to do, the trick is knowing where to change the Screen Connections. Essentially the "Bulb" is the entire screen is often very system/Machine specific

They're usually cold-cathode fluorescent lamps, but I've never seen anyone sell the lamps themselves after-market. You can sometimes buy a replacement for the whole LCD though, which will cost a few hundred dollars.

The backlight on LCDs is usually built-in to the LCD itself these days. That means the backlight cannot be replaced. However, the LCD can, but is generally not worth the cost.

There is no bulb. It is the entire screen that glows.
