Oprah is worth more money than we can count. She's earned it by working hard and making the right choices. That would give her the right to spend it any way she wants. I'm not aware of the fish but she does have a few dogs she's very fond of. What she did in Africa is a beautiful thing. People might wonder why she didn't spend that money here in the states. She does do many things for people here in the states but the betterment for Africa is something very dear to her heart and I applaud her for it. I think Oprah is one of the most generous and heartfelt people we have in the entertainment business.

She is doing a lot of good work with her money both here and abroad so she is entitled to her $50 million dollar house as far as I'm concerned. It's not like some of the rich stars that do nothing with their money but spend, spend, spend on a wild way of life and do nothing but drink and do drugs and do nothing to help anyone else out. Case in point, Britney, Paris and a few more of their ilk.

A lot of her "give aways" aren't her money personally but who cares. I'm sure the people on the other end of the cars, etc. don't give a flying fig whose money it is. It would be the thought that counts anyway.

People are only seeing that she built a school in Africa. They aren't really looking into the other things she is doing with her own money right here. Why shouldn't she build a school wherever she wants? Brad and big lipped Angolie adopt kids from Vietnam and Africa - why not kids from here? I think it's Johnny Depp who is a US citizen, works here and lives in France because he doesn't like the US. Excuse me?

50 million for a house? Rich people do need to invest their money or they get screwed on taxes. I learned that from working with some rich doctors who constantly went out and bought new expensive "toys" even if they didn't really want them.

Well, what do you expect? I certainly don't expect rich people (many of whom had actually worked very hard before becoming rich) to charity most of their money away and live like middle class families. Oprah is rich; she's able to buy herself an expensive house, so be it. However, unlike many other rich people, she at least used part of her money (and fame) for good causes. Yes, she could potentially use much more of her billions for much more good deeds, but even to middle class people, how many of US actually spend that $50 a month to "adopt" / assist a third world country child?

We should stop blaming (disapprove, yes, but not blame) rich people for not bettering the world. Ordinary people can help just as much, if we really wanted to (and that's the problem).

Publicity... Everyone thinks she is some wonderful women. She gives away stuff all the time... Guess what, IT ISNT HER MONEY... She isnt the one dishing out new cadillacs... Cadillac wants there name associated with hers and GIVE her the cars. I dont think people realize how the entertainment industry works. People may be WEARING a 9,000 dollar gown, but they dont pay for it, as long as you are associated with that designer. She builds homes ect... Right, like that is all her money... There are alot more better things she could do with her billions, but we all know things like that wont be noticed... So she wont do it, only big, high profile things like building schools....

I think she could have built another school in Africa, perhaps one that allowed boys instead of just girls. nobody in the entire earth really needs a house that expensive.

Oprah is allowed to be sexist since she is so pro-womens rights. I think this is so anti-sextist that it is the worst kind of sexist, the kind where its acceptable.

Its her money so she can do what she wants with it, however I think she could do a lot more as could a lot of rich people. Isn't there a top end to how much money you need after all.
