I had 11 different schools (due my father's constant promotions meant we moved a lot.)
I learnt to AVOID having close friends who I would have to leave.
I have had 25 different homes with similar results.
I am very close to my wonderful daughters, my wonderful sons-in-law and my grand-children.
I talk easily with work people and total strangers.
I tried making friends, because my family said I should, when I retired but one died and the other is dying.
You know I don't mind not having friends but people keep worrying about me.
I like talking to me, my-self and I - we always agree.

Is this really a question or a statement? Anyways, it's okay to not want many friends. My father was an Army brat, growing up in places all over the world, also experiencing not being able to keep friends as a kid. He, still to this day, feels the same way you do, likes his own company and has few friends although he is a very good man. This difference in you and what other people may want for themselves makes the fabric of life.

It sounds like you have plenty of friends. Your family is your base of friends which is fine in my book. I have very few friends as well because I have learned over the years that most people really aren't friends at all, but leeches in waiting. This doesn't mean ALL people are that way, but plenty are and so many will stab us in the back at the drop of a hat just because they can. People lie like rugs and have no remorse whatsoever about it. They're not all that way, but so many are that I have all but quit even bothering 99.99% of the time.
I'm a 47 year old man with 1 true friend and she is an 80 year old woman. I live in a shed in her backyard, but I had a wife for 22 years who just burned me too after all that time she decided to just leave me with everything and use my family behind my back. My daughter is my only real true family member I care about except for my dad who is also almost 80, but we (my family and myself) all live over 1000 miles apart. I'm in TX, my daughter in OH and my dad in SC. I have enough friends..1. That's enough for me.
