I wasn't going to answer because I thought there would already be the sugestions, but I guess I have to save you >.<

Iguanas do NOT make good pets. They may be cute, but they are not easy to take care of. They get to 6feet long, eat a lot, and do get aggressive during breeding season. They can hurt very badly. Not a good choice for someone who wants a lizzy.

I suggest a bearded or water dragon. They both get no longer than 3ft(the beardie will be 2) and they are both very friendly. They both have the same diet(dusted crickets, mealworms, waxworms, collard greens, veggies, etc), but have different needs. The Beardie will need a 5-8.0 UV light, while the water dragon will be okay with a 5.0 UV lamp. The beardie will need a dry, desert like cage, which is easier to produce in a house. The water dragon needs humidity and warmth, which is hard to do in a house without plexiglass/glass(which is bad because they dont understand glass and will rub their noses bad).

I would say get a water dragon, as that is what I have and he seems to be the sweetest baby in the world, but if you want a good starter pet reptile, definately go with the beardie. It will be slightly more expensive but worth it because you wont have to do as much work.

Leopard geckos are probally one of the easiest reptiles to take care of. I suggest starting with one of these. Contrary to popular belief iguanas are very hard to take care of. A lot of time is required to make sure they have the proper diet and proper housing. I have seen tons of iguanas develop metabolic bone disease from poor diet. Iguanas are not good first lizards. So try a leopard gecko, read up before you get one. there are tons of books available.

Bearded Dragons are great, low maintance, easy to care for and friendly. They dont have a strong odor and are great for beginners.

Iguanas are awesome too, but they do get BIG, I mean, Amahd, my Iguana, is about 30+ pounds now and hes only 4 years old. He has a cage the size of a hallway closet...

Geikos are cool too, they are also pretty easy to care for.

I am an owner of a leopard gecko and have fallen in love with geckos....they are all realatively easy to care for and eat things like crickets, millworms, and some species; fruits.

My suggestions:
leopard gecko
crested gecko

If you are looking to handle them....
AVOID: Tokay Geckos (these beautiful little guys come out of the egg biting and never tame.)

Stay away from chameleons. They are very cute, but hard to keep. I'd suggest a gecko, or possibly an anole if it's your first one. Anoles are sometimes sold as American chameleons. They're kinda small, but very easy to keep. You just feed them crickets and don't need a heat rock.

if you are not very experienced in raising these little fellas, i would suggest a leopard gecko. they are very easy to maintain, and are a great way to get into the idea of lizards.

good luck.

I have had two veiled chameleons, but they are very hard to raise...lots of work and expensive equipment...

How about a gecko...
