You make some great points. The fact that african immigrants come over here and do better than so many of us should make more blacks think...... It's not all "the white man's" fault.

First off I wouldn't take all the blame away from whites. Because as you get older and wiser you will realise that the past does affect the future. Think about it prior to the late 70s blacks were treated like crap and weren't given equal opportunities no matter how much education they received. So whites have been treating blacks and equals for about 30 years, that's one generation. You can't expect a whole race to get it right in one generation. I'm 26 years old, my parents went through all that segragated stuff. As for the grown men sitting around, depending on their ages weren't given the same opportunites that you and I had growing up.
Now to other stuff. I'm glad that your aware of what's going on around you. Your a little confused in some aspects, but that comes with being so young. What every other race has figured out is that education is the key for success. Also unity among race and families.
People will laugh at Indians for owning little convient stores, but thier family owned. And they use that money to ship other family members to the U.S. from India or from wherever they chose to come from. And then they just expand the business. They have a plan before even coming to this country. What blacks in this country need is a plan and sense of loyalty to family and to our people in general. Add that with some education and we'll be unstoppable. We are the most creative people on this planet.

The term "African-American" usually offends modern Africans who've immigrated to the Americas, aka, people who are actually from Africa.
I think one thing that stands in the way of a black person in America, is the idea that if he doesn't fit the racist stereotype of a "black", that he is somehow betraying his community. It sounds kinda weird to say that the community is going down because of it's sense of unity, but in a way, that's exactly what's happening.
Many white people try to follow the black demographic and fall into the same slumps. The real enemies are the people promoting this image, and making tons and tons of cash doing so. Their keeping all of us down, and we're eating it with a knife and fork.
Are the decendents of Chinese labourers, who were intensely abused, having the same troubles that black people face today? Not really. A lot of them own their own small businesses. Do we see many Asians on television, acting like ignorant fools? No, the number is substantially lower. The racism against Asians persists like the racism against black people, yet one group seems more successful than the other.
Not even a no-name WHITE person can make it big anymore, because some big corporation will stomp all over him before he gets the chance. Don't kid yourself. The mouse-traps are all in place, and these "issues" have all been created by The Man to distract and divide us. Maybe, it's time to rethink and redirect our hate.

It's how our society works. People always want to blame someone else for the negative things in life. The rich want to blame the poor, heterosexuals want to blame homosexuals, races want to blame other races, for all of society's problems
I think all groups of people have individuals who give up and blame things on others, but they also have people who try.
I'm sorry that you think most black people have just given up. The only person I control is me, myself and I. I think I'm such a hard worker and such because my family isn't originally from here (they're from Jamaica). I've been taught to have strong values and to work hard and it baffles me that some blacks (and a couple of other races) want to label me as acting white for doing something with myself. I've never been anywhere close to "the ghetto" and I don't really have any black friends so I can't seriously say what they're thinking. But in my opinion a lot of the black families who have been in the US for generations have given up and just think they aren't supposed to do well. The media constantly reinforces silly stereotypes and from my observations, blacks think they aren't cool if they don't live up to those stupid stereotypes.
Yes, society would be better if everyone realized that they control their lives and life might deal a bad card once in a while but you have to move on. I doubt everyone will ever think like that for the simple fact that people to don't want to be responsible, they want things to be someone else's fault.
In the end, the only person you can control is yourself. Be happy that you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and you can do something with your life. Pass on the same values to your kids, and maybe things will eventually change.

The reality of the situation is, you see all those unemployed African American men on the street every day because of racism. Most American businesses are White owned, and most White businesspeople would rather hire Whites or Hispanics rather than Blacks.
There have actually been surveys taken, where White academics have asked White employers anonymously about their racial preferences in hiring.
And, when asked anonymously by White researchers, White bosses admit that they'd rather hire their own race (for the good jobs) and Latinos (for the lower paying jobs).
This has gotten worse in the past 20 years.
Back before you were born, there was a lot less Black unemployment because, thanks to the rise of unions during the Depression, a lot of Black men got good unionized factory jobs.
Right up until the 1980s, about half of the Black men in this country had good paying unionized jobs in factories.
The problem is, the corporations, almost all of which are White dominated, had a problem with having so many highly paid Black men on the payroll. They also had a general need to reduce their payroll to compete with foriegn companies which paid far lower wages.
So, starting in the 1980's, they started closing unionized factories in heavily Black urban areas, and putting up non union factories in rural areas that were largely White and Latino, or moving their factories overseas.
Basically, what you see now is the result of that.
So, before you dump on unemployed Black men for being lazy, find out HOW it came to be that we were reduced to that state.
And yes it IS "the man's" fault!
As for African American and Middle Eastern immigrants - one, many of them come here with capital accumulated in businesses they owned back home. Two, many of them are willing to live a starvation standard of living, so every penny they make from their stores is reinvested.
Honestly, would YOU want to live in the basement of your store, like many of them do?

I totally agree, the reason why foreign blacks come here and achieve greatness is because they believe in education and is power to better life in general
American blacks have to face many obstacles trying to make it in America but it is not impossible but some have just fell for the many trap that was set to hold them back in the first place , the ghetto , projects think about it ?
After slavery they weren't giving anything but freedom so called but due to the miseducation of the ***** many fell for the trap set along the way to stop from becoming productive member of society , drugs, abuse and so on
Unfortunate situation but until blacks in America wake up and realize that most will be held back

I'm white, and I have never really thought about that, but you raise some good points there. People (no matter what color they may be) can't always blame things on how society works.
