They continue to grow. If the tank is too small they will grow in deformed ways that will injure the fish and significantly shorten it's life span.

When fish appear to stop growing before the expected Adult size it's called 'stunting' They like ALL fish grow! If the tank is too small the growth rate slows outwardly in some species though internal organs may still grow and then you get deformity and illness! Goldfish are an example of this! Others continue to grow like the Angels which can with proper care and feeding grow very large though in tanks they are never going to reach the size they would in the wild! As they are also a tall shape they need to be in deep water which small tanks can't provide! Don't keep any fish without doing the homework! Find out the Adult size before choosing a fish! Try visiting one of the very good web-sites found under tropical-fishkeeping!

Externally Angelfish grow to suit their tank size and pecking order. But internally they will continue to grow. This is what they mean when someone talks about a fish's' growth being stunted. It shortens the lifespan of the individual fish.

As with all fish they will grow to the size they are stated to, it is a common myth to think they will grow to the size of the tank believe me it will not!!! It will just grow bigger the best thing to do is to ask when buying fish how big they will get so you know the tank you have will be able to support them all there lives.

some fish have a gland that releases a hormone into the water, the gland then measures the concentration in the water, if its too stable it tells the fish to end starting to be, or decelerate if its nice then it consists of on starting to be. 2 issues to be conscious if the fish is from a river then the gland is redundant and would not artwork, guess the place angel fish come from. the 2d element is that in case you do your water alterations then you certainly dilute the hormone and it consists of on starting to be. those fish can enhance to 6" in physique length, although, the fins suitable to backside can especially circumstances enhance 12" I doubt even in the adventure that your tank is that deep which will advise the fins turns into stubs and open to infections all the time.

The growth of any fish in a tank is governed by the water quality.
If you don't make regular water changes the nitrates in fish urine will restrict growth and fish will be unhealthy.
