After heavy rain the back left tire won't turn! It's like the handbreak is on, it always happens after heavy rain. It sometimes gets "unstuck" after driving it backwards and forwards until it makes cracking noise, but not this time. Any ideas?

hi there, sounds like your rear brakes haven't been look at for a while, if you have drums on the rear, jack the rear of the car up, take the wheel off, get a very big hammer and continue to hit the drum on the front and all the way around until you start to see the drum moving (remember to have you handbrake off while doing this other wise there will be no point in doing it), once the drum comes loose undo the centre hub nut to withdraw the drum from the hub, get some emery cloth (red sand paper like stuff), and give the shoes a real good sanding and sand the inside of the drums aswell, you might find there is a lip on the inside of your drum, if there is then its best to get it grinded down or if its really bad get a good second hand one from your local scrappy (should cost no more than £20 no matter wot car you Have). put some grease on the handbreak cable/spring which you will find at the bottom of the hub, be carful not to get any on the shoes, put it back together and your problem should be sorted,

you've probably got a build up of aspetos dust built up in you drum, when it gets really damp the dust clumps together and starts acting as some sort of glue substance, hope some of this helps and good luck, Gary

The problem is nothing new your brakes are from the vauxhall astra range and they do the same thing.
The best thing you can do is take of the drums check for big lips if so replace and also check shoes if bad score marks also replace if both ok then just clean up all the area and put grease on all springs and the behind the arm that works the h/brake.

seems like the brake is sticking on-this can be the result of the handbrake not releasing due to cable or seizure at the wheel cylinder lever connection to the cable.you need to remove the drum and inspect the shoes and inspect the brake wheel cylinder for correct operation

Could be rust in the handbrake cable or a kink in the same. I get it sometimes when I have not used my 205 Peugeot for a while and forget to release the handbrake when leaving it.

Get your brakes checked. It won't cost much. It sounds to me as if your handbrake linkage is shot.

You need to have the brakes done. If you have drum brakes then there is rust in the brakes. If they are disk then there is probably rust in the sliders.

water isn't good for brakes.

Either the brake is sticking, or more likely, you've got a failed wheel bearing. Try raising the wheel, and see if you can move it by hand. I'll bet you can't.
