It seems to be in all of the prescription prenatal vitamins.

Well if it's in prenatal vitamins don't you think that they would have researched it and proved that it is safe?

Apparently, otherwise the doctors wouldn't prescribe prenatal vitamins

Its safe. It's a stool softener cuz the iron in prenatal vitamins can constipate you.

It is safe. I had to take it through my second and third trimesters due to severe constipation. It was the only thing that would help.
I am also a medical assistant and we suggest this to all our pregnant patients that are having constipation issues.

Everything in those vitamins are good for you and your baby.

most likely a preservative, in which case any extra chemicals aren't good for you. try the brands listed at http://www.yourchildrennaturally.com in the nutritional guidelines for normal pregnancy articles.
I know that it is not in 2 of the brands and one you can find at the health food market, Solaray

obviously if its in prenatals then its safe. why would your doc perscribe it if it wasn't????
